Los Angeles Children’s Hospital Visit

imageLast thursday my husband Benedict and I went to visit the Los AngelesChildren’s Hospital. The last time we were there, was over ten years ago, when our children were much younger, and our oldest son had accidentally slammed a door on our daughter’s hand, almost severing one of her fingers off.

In the midst of fear and panic, we ended up  at the Children’s Hospital which was the best thing we could have ever done.

The entire staff was compassionate, patient and kind, and took care of our daughter, while comforting us at the same time. They attended to her her right away,  and within weeks, her hand was good as new.

Today, she is a thriving young beautiful girl and you wouldn’t even know that the accident happened, except for a tiny little bump on her knuckle. Thru the years we felt compelled to convey our gratitude to the hospital beyond the thanks we expressed at the time.

So when our  Baby’s Brilliant App was finally up and running, we realized we had a wonderful opportunity to give back to this wonderful Hospital.

We met with Martha  Andujo-Garske, the hospital’s Assistant Vice President, Major and Planned Gifts who was kind enough to give us a tour of the hospital and introduce us to Dr. Gordon McComb the hospital’s former Divison Chief of Neurosurgery.

We presented them with iPads and iPads mini, loaded with all of the Baby’s Brilliant contents. They told us the iPads would come in very handy in the small playrooms where the children were allowed to go, if they were well enough to leave their room. They were especially excited about the Night Lights feature, which they said would be so appreciated by the children who  were unable to leave their hospital beds. Especially at nighttime, a hospital room can seem lonely and overwhelming to a sick child, so anything that can bring soothing visuals and music and a window to the outside world, is more than welcome.

Our goal, when we created Baby’s Brilliant was to offer a better quality of entertainment in a digital format to families everywhere. To be able to bring entertainment and any kind of comfort to children in a hospital, was beyond what we ever dreamed of.

As our company grows, my husband and I are committed to continue giving back in as many ways as we can, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to do so.
