In the last few weeks, we created a contest on social media to help create some awareness about our company.
After some long discussions, we decided that the prize would have to be substantial. This was just around the time the iPhone 6 came out, so we all agreed that the winner would get an iPhone 6. We are a self- financed, family business, so this was quite a large expense for us, but necessary to make the contest popular.
The contest ended, and the winner was announced. I proudly went to FedEx and shipped the phone overnight. Unfortunately, the next day, someone on Facebook claimed to be that person and asked for us to send the phone to her.
We stopped the shipment and it took us a couple of days to resolve the issue. Eventually, we concluded that the other person wasn’t the winner and we were finally ready to ship the prize to our real winner.
In the process of finding out who was who, we found out that our winner was the mother of two teenage daughters. The mom had gone thru some real tough times with health issues. So we decided to throw in a couple of gifts cards for her daughters and we wrote a little note to go along with it.
Yesterday, when I got home and this Email arrived !

This afternoon, just before I was about to take my daughters, Brenna and Alana, to swim practice, we heard a loud knock at the door. Surprise! Surprise! It was Fed Ex with a package from you. My daughters were so excited. We opened the package and first found your beautiful note and 3 gift cards. All I can say is WoW!! How unexpected and generous!
To see the joy on their faces today when they opened that Fed Ex package and discovered not only the iphone 6 but your beautiful note and the gift cards … that was truly priceless.
